This document has been drafted to describe how ClausesGuard actually works, but it has not yet been reviewed by a qualified lawyer and is not yet in force. Do not rely on it. It must be reviewed and approved before the Service accepts paying customers.
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Some are essential — without them you could not stay signed in between page loads. Others are optional and are used for analytics or advertising. We use only the first kind.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __session | Clerk (our authentication provider) | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages | Session / up to 7 days |
| __client_uat | Clerk | Records when your session was last authenticated, so we know whether to re-authenticate you | Up to 1 year |
| __clerk_db_jwt | Clerk | Development and session-handshake token used to establish a signed-in session | Session |
Exact names and lifetimes are set by Clerk and may change as they update their SDK. All of them exist to authenticate you. None of them track you across other websites.
If we ever introduce analytics or any other non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent first, through a proper consent banner with a genuine option to decline, and we will update this page before doing so.
Under the EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK’s PECR and equivalent rules, consent is required for non-essential cookies. Cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service the user has requested — such as keeping you signed in — are exempt. Because we set only strictly necessary cookies, we give you this notice instead of a consent request.
The Service reads files you upload inside your own browser in order to extract their text. That processing is transient and in memory; we do not write your document to browser storage, and the file is never uploaded to us.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because ours are essential, blocking them will prevent you from signing in and the Service will not work.
Guides: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge each document cookie controls in their privacy settings.
If our cookie use changes we will update this page and, where the change introduces a non-essential cookie, ask for your consent before setting it.
